Learn about Maintenance

Learn about how we get lasting effects for our patients after the induction ketamine treatments

At Alleviation Ketamine, we use a personalized approach to ensure you receive safe and effective care while recognizing you as a whole person. Each treatment plan will take your home life, social supports, schedule, finances, other health conditions and psychotherapy into consideration.

Core Elements of a Maintenance Plan

At Home Ketamine

Most of our patients start at home ketamine during the induction phase of treatment. Ketamine can be administered at home with a lozenge or troche that dissolves under the tongue, nasal spray or suppository. Often we will use a combination of formulations to achieve the maximum effect.

We work with patients to maximize the at home experience. We will help you prepare your environment to ensure you have the appropriate setting to provide your nervous systems with cues of safety and comfort. We will assist with exercises and perspectives to help with your mindset. We will also customize music tracks for your at home sessions to help guide your journeys.

We will monitor your progress to ensure you are safe and help you troubleshoot any issues as they arise.

Maintenance Infusions

Most of our patients also return for maintenance infusions. The frequency of these infusions varies from person to person, but we generally have patients book their first maintenance infusion for a month after the last induction infusion.

Many of our patients return for monthly infusions, however, many also space out further. Some only do a few maintenance infusions and others do monthly infusions indefinitely.

Integration Group

Our integration group is available to all of our patients – those currently in the initial induction phase, as well as those who are in the maintenance phase.

The integration group allows patients to communicate with each other about the experiences. Advice about at home ketamine is provided by those who have experience.

The group also serves an educational resources to learn new exercises at skills. Many patients have found the supports of the group to be a crucial elements of their maintenance plan.

Therapy and Coaching

Many of our patients continue to work on their growth and healing by working with us in therapy or coaching.

We use a multimodal approach with elements of IFS, polyvagal theory, somatic therapy, mindfulness and more to continue to build on the progress catalyzed by ketamine.
